Far Cry 3 Review

Farcry 3 review

 FAR CRY (noun)
The noun FAR CRY has 2 senses:
1. distance estimated in terms of the audibility of a cry
2. a disappointing disparity
Familiarity information: FAR CRY used as a noun is rare.

Does a game that’s crammed with enough guns, action, terrorists, drugs, and miles of paradise for you to explore and make it into your personal playground sound enough to you? When people compare this game to a blockbuster hit and say that “It’s a modern day Sky Rim with guns” Does it make you raise an eyebrow and think to turn in your mythical +2 battle Axe for a Pump action shotgun? Well, then this might be your game. We will take a peek and see what makes this game tick and see if it goes BOOM! Welcome to Rook Island.

"Vacation fun for the whole family!"

Right from the beginning, the game takes a turn for the worse when a group of young adults go on a sky diving vacation trip end up being kidnapped by a group of heavily armed warlords who hunt outsiders for ransom. It’s up to you (Jason Brody), a mild mannered middle brother, to nut up and shut up then save the day. The characters that you meet along the way are pretty memorable and gives the story substance. From the beautiful and mysterious "Citra", to a maniac and out of his mind "Vaas" who makes Tony Montana look second rate. The first 10 minutes are heart pounding. The game sets you up beautifully until you are force fed a handful  of revenge, then has the nerve to catapult you into the insane, yet beautiful, Rook Island. One of the most interesting  aspects of the game is the attitude and change of the protagonist.  He starts out as a middle brother who can barely pull a trigger of a NERF gun then over time turns into a cold hardcore killer which can make John Rambo say “DAAAMNN”.

"DAAAMN Jason, why you got to be so mean!"

There are tons of things to do in this game. Far Cry 3 can keep a gamer busy for a long period of time by containing mini-games, trails,  big game hunts, assassination  quests, treasure hunts, poker games and herbal harvesting to craft special syringes. There are also 120 relics that you can discover across the map which gives an “Uncharted” feel to it.The graphics can keep your eyes glued to the screen due to light and textures created by Cryengine 3 (Crysis 2, Crysis 3)  At first the jungle will seem very unknown and dangerous which has the potential to swallow you whole. You can open various parts of the map by accessing the radio towers which unlock various items on your GPS, giving you in upper hand on your travels. Every vehicle on the island are accessible from land, air and water.

                                       "Aim for the bushes!!!!"

The map will also indicate enemy camps which can be eliminated stealthy and tactical or just go ape shit Rambo style. You get more XP if you dispatch every enemy without being seen/caught. Perks can be available to you once you accumulate enough XP to do some awesome finishers or survival tactics.

Once you have some abilities/Perks at your disposal and some terrain under you GPS, it’s time to party. Now you can use the jungle to your advantage by scavenging its resources (Hunting/Harvesting) to create ammo/item packs and syringes which will turn the tides of this one man battle. A jungle that you feared and died from time to time is now a resource for your survival.

"You would think that if its a centimeter away, its close right?

Far Cry 3 has two multiplayer modes which can add little bit more to the reply value.  The Co-op mode consists of 4 characters with their own personalities and goals, blasting through various levels in search for fortune that’s rightfully theirs. Their adventure happens months before the main story giving a brief back ground of the island. There a perks that you can select and load outs to unlock once you gain enough XP. This mode is fun when you are actually communicating between each other but the magic dies down after a few runs. It’s a good a good way to distract yourself from the main game. DLC for more co-op missions were recently announced which are exclusive to PS3 users. These should be released early this year.

"Real men don´t look back at explosions!!"

The actual multi-player has a few things which are new to the common FPS shooter. Once a match is over the top three players from the winning side present themselves beside the 1st place player from the opposing team, all tied up and on his knees. You have the choice to execute him or free him. Kinda cool when you have that pestering nemesis that either camps the whole time or they are just god forsaken good!  But most of it has been done which gives it a mediocre feel. You kill, get points, gain perks, buy guns, die, mix, repeat.  I would not advise you to buy this game just for the multiplayer aspect. There are other games on the market for that. On that note, the multiplayer modes are fun, but look at them as extras. These are something to take a break from the main game and kill some extra time.

First Impression: The first 10 minutes leaves you in awe.  The graphics are excellent and the landscapes are beautiful. From sunsets to starry skies. The magic of Cryengine.

Control: The aim and movements are up to par. But when alot of objects are running all over the place it can cause some frame rate issues. I also noticed when you are in a vehicle when a NPC is  driving or in control, there can be some clipping issues, or you fall straight under the vehicle and cause you to die instantly. I hope this is patched soon.

Immersion: An involving story with memorable characters with miles and miles of land, guns, treasure, hunting, mini-games, races, multiplayer, and action. Once the first set of events unfold there is not a chance in hell im letting the controller go.There is lots to do in so little time.

                                           "BUY IT"

I do not want to repeat myself with what this game consists of. Just check it for yourself.
Good luck and happy hunting!

Rainbow Moon Review

Rainbow Moon Review

The 90´s, sweet 90’s, Nirvana and MC Hammer, Burton and Schumacher, DBZ, Pokemon and games, lots of good games. Rainbow Moon is a love song to those old school JRPGs, and a really good song.
This game was made by eastasiasoft, a European dev team with another underrated jewel under their arm, Soldner, an exclusive shm’up for PSN which also hearkens to the 90’s.

Rainbow Moon tells the story of Balder, a warrior who (un)fortunately stumbles upon a portal that sends him to a distant planet, or rather a moon. Now he must fight his way back home through monsters, wannabe heroes and thieves. Plus, everybody believes he unleashed the monsters on the moon, adding to his troubles, but as any good JRPG; soon he allies with others, travels to exotic lands and gets involved on a wacky conspiracy.

Actually, Rainbow Moon’s history goes to a second plane and only works as a vehicle to get you all over the place fighting monsters and earning experience right and left. The fighting system is what shines on this gem so everything that surrounds it. Leveling and customization on Rainbow Moon are really detailed and immense. Everything on your party can be developed; leveling, attributes, equipment, active and passive skills, and battle formations. Leveling is based on three factors, experience, lunar coins and lunar orbs. Experience defines level which determines the cap for attributes, Lunar Orbs are used to upgrade attributes and Lunar Coins are used to buy equipment and potions and all kinda stuff to help you get through your travels. Furthermore, enemies drop materials that can be fused into armor and weapons to upgrade their attributes (or can be sold). And not forgetting skills, as usual, active skills are used during battles and passive skills are used to buff attributes and out of battles for assorted things (one of my favorites lets you grow fruit to replenish your food bar) and each has it own experience gauge. The only downside is that some are restricted to certain character, effectively limiting job customization.

In battle, the actions develops on a grid where you must displace and position your characters effectively, this simple thing opens a whole lot of interesting tactical possibilities, for example, some enemies will drop loot when defeated, the space occupied by that loot it cannot be occupied by a character so you can decide on leaving it to create a barrier to protect yourself from flanking or getting surrounded, or grab it and claim your prize. The battle system reminded me a lot of games like Valkiria Profile and a bit of Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. The hybrid works perfectly and feels surprisingly fresh and unique regardless of the comparison. The battled have a really fluid and fast pace and never gets boring. The speed attribute is really interesting since it determines who starts the battle and how many subturns your character gets. The battles, although random, need to be triggered by the player so you can advance at your own pace, a really cool detail indeed. And surprisingly the battles never get repetitive.

FIRST IMPRESSION
Rainbow Moons does not look impressive, in fact that its weakest point. The animation looks awkward and robotic although serviceable; the character design is weak and uninspired. On a positive note, the color palette is eye candy and the environments are really varied. The music is outstanding and some tracks are memorable, the sound effects are really cool and the weird voice effects give Rainbow Moon a very distinctive personality.

CONTROL
The usual, move with the stick, press x for action, inventory to triangle. On the battles things get mixed a little, in fact one of my favorite things is how the attack command works on melee characters. Moving along the grid can be awkward but you get used fast.

IMMERSION
Although its history is not the best thing in the world, Rainbow Moon demands a lot of attention, in fact you get a trophy for playing 100 hours and another to level a character up to level 500!!! But with a platinum trophy, a fun and fresh battle system and a robust and deep customization and leveling system, investing 100 hours don’t look all that crazy.

BUY IT!!!

Rainbow Moon is a love poem to JRPG fans from and to dedicated fans, if you loved SMBRPG, FF Tactics and Valkiria Profile this game is for you, plus is a really complete experience for only 15.00 bucks

Rainbow Moon Revision (ESP)

Rainbow Moon Revision

¡Hey! ¡Puedo ver mi departamento desde aqui!

Hola hola verdaderos creyentes!

Ultimas Palabras:
"Web-Swing!" "Web-Ball" "Spider Sting!" "ULTIMATE SPIDER!!!" Me gusta este araña mejor!

The Amazing Spiderman review

The Amazing Spider-man Review

Hey! I can see my apartment from here!

Hello there True Believers! Another Spider-man game has set upon us. There has been quite a few of these web-crawling games through out console history. But when times change, so does the mechanics as well as what gamers are expecting to see. So, will Spider-Man succeed in vanquishing the enemy of modern standards, or will he be defeated by the sands of time? Stay tuned to find out video game gurus! Excelsior!

"Common-sense is tingling..."

This game takes place days after the movie, giving you a glimpse on what the next chapters may move towards. The beginning of the game has a great look. Oscorp seems to be up to no good as you take a small tour (or what I like to call a "Half-Life" intro) into its facilities with the lovely Gwen Stacy. Before you can say "Peter Parker, pepper, pickle" Everything goes to hell. "Cross Species" or more what I like to call Spider-mans "B-Listers" run rampant and also causing an epidemic due to the consequences of  Dr. Connors research.

B-Listers need love too.....

The game touches on some comic book fantasy which you will not see in the movies. Like gigantic spider hunting robots and web fluid which you do not seem to run out of. (which is not a bad thing) Swinging through the city in HD is fun but nothing really different. If the main story is too cliche then you can spice things up with a handful of side quests, meanwhile stopping petty crimes or helping the infected to a hospital. These aspects can also prove to be quite repetitive at times. The combat system is not tight.  You can see minor flaws in the sound effects as well as the hit boxes once it comes into contact. Old Web head has some
tricks/abilities which you can buy with your hard earned experience points. The game actually gets more interesting once you have your set of these useful abilities.  Also, the more you suck at dodging blows, lasers, or acid, you characters suit starts deteriorating. (Battle Damage)

"This is a job for.........The Avengers!!!"

All in all this game is fun, but nothing memorable or epic. I cant see myself 5 years down the road reminiscing about this Spider´s Tale.  Even though I am a Comic fan of this Super Hero, I was hoping for something different for these modern times. But it does feel relaxing/fun getting out of work, firing up the game console, and swinging through the streets of Manhattan. Doing the best a spider can by not letting everything go to hell in a hand-basket.

First Impression: The game has gloss. I enjoyed the intro. Flying through Manhattan looks awesome in HD. The massive boss battle frame rates are pretty stiff.

Control: The battle system is a bit off. Dodging and hitting are not tight. The camera angles are sometimes mis-adjusted when wall crawling.  Web-swinging and Web-zip are pretty fine tuned.

Immersion: The story line is not quite as epic, even though Manhattan is on the verge of going to hell. Once you start gaining more abilities, you start getting involved with the interactions of the game. (Brawling, webbing, Tech, etc.) Finding comics throughout the game is actually pretty cool and educative. When you find enough illustrations you unlock actual vintage comics of Spider-Man!

BARROW/RENT IT!!

Last Words:

"Web-Swing!" "Web-Ball" "Spider Sting!" "ULTIMATE SPIDER!!!" I like this spider better.

BATMAN: ARKHAM Prequel *NEWS*

BATMAN: ARKHAM Prequel

Batfans will be glad to hear this epic installment of our caped crusader. It will take place in the "Silver age" of comics around the mid 1956 to 1970s. This will also introduce The Justice League of America. (JLA) This originally involved Superman, Bat-Man, Aqua-man, Flash, Green-Lantern, Martian Man-Hunter, and Wonder-Women. This star studded cast is probably a way to advertise or make them well known to the public for their upcoming movie coming out in 2015. The story is also going to revolve around the first meeting with the Joker. I wonder if you can play as Aqua-Man.......would that even be epic?
